Elyse Riddle here!! I'm actually one of the busy bees that has the privilege of not only working with Anna, but also has access to her computer AND has a birthday in September! (Cue evil laugh!!!) I would love to bring you all the deet's on why sapphire is the best birthstone in the whole wide world all while hoping I don't get caught. I am genuinely banking on nobody reading this just FYI.
First of all you should know that the word sapphire comes from Greek word, "sappheiros" which means "precious stone". Sapphires are part of the precious gemstone family, consisting of, rubies, diamonds, and emeralds. Sapphires have been sought after since the middle ages and has always been worn by royalty to symbolize holiness, wisdom, virtue, and good fortune. All attributes, by the way, that I've been trying to convince my husband that I possess, thank you very much!
The most prized sapphire gem is one that is a medium to dark blue, or slightly violet-ish blue. Sapphire's have become one of the most popular engagement stones which can be attributed to Kate Middleton's ring, that originally belonged to princess Diana. Regardless of what attracts you to this most gorgeous gem it make for a meaningful and beautiful birthday gift. (I hope you're listening MICHAEL RIDDLE!!!!)
